Emergency Procedures

Nobody heads out on a sail expecting to face an emergency, but a bit of forethought and familiarity with emergency procedures can help you avoid disaster should emergency conditions arise.

None of this is meant to scare you away from boating, but the list below is indeed scary. In my opinion the reward far outweighs the risks when managed properly. Education is an important part of that risk management.

It’s impossible to consider every possible eventuality, but these documents will strive to cover some of the most-anticipated emergencies that can occur aboard a boat. Always seek expert advice to supplement the information found here.

This is a work in progress, and more scenarios will be added as time allows, so be sure to revisit the site for up-to-date resources. For scenarios that do not yet have a link, please consider performing your own research and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to raise them with me at any time.
